WIC Course Assessments

Assessment plays an important role in ensuring that WIC courses provide students with strong, discipline‑based writing experiences. Our goal is to support faculty as they design, teach, and refine courses that help students grow as writers in their fields.

Our Focus

WIC course assessment emphasizes:

  • Clear, discipline‑appropriate learning outcomes
  • Thoughtful writing assignments
  • Opportunities for feedback and revision
  • Consistent, transparent evaluation practices

During the LOCR Transition

Because the WIC Learning Outcomes, Criteria, and Rationale (LOCR) are currently being revised, faculty developing new WIC courses should consult with the WIC Director before submitting proposals. This helps avoid unnecessary revisions later and ensures alignment with the updated framework.

Support for Faculty

The WIC Program offers:

  • Individual consultations
  • Guidance on aligning assignments and outcomes
  • Updates throughout the LOCR revision process
