The WIC program promotes excellence in writing and fosters a culture of writing at Oregon State University by supporting and instructing faculty across the disciplines who are developing and teaching writing intensive courses as part of OSU's Baccalaureate Core requirements, and who want to integrate writing into non-WIC courses to support students’ learning course material and learning to write.
It does so through:
- The fall Faculty Seminar
- Faculty lunches and workshops led by the WIC team and by OSU faculty from across campus
- Talks and workshops by visiting scholars
- Departmental and individual faculty consulting
- Course proposal reviews
- The newsletter Teaching with Writing
- Collaborations with other OSU units, including the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Academic Success Center, the Writing Center, and the Graduate Writing Center
